Organisation of competitions and procurement of planning services

In the strategic phase we work with you to develop the right project model for the development of your built asset. In the subsequent initiation and planning phase we plan, manage and coordinate the associated procurement processes (planning & works) and ensure optimum project organisation right from the outset.

A well-designed planning competition can help you find the solution and the planning partners best suited to your requirements. When planning a competition procedure of this kind, we pay special attention to the following three aspects:

  • Through good competition design we ensure the best overall solution and planning team for the client's needs.
  • The decision must be transparent, both for competition participants as well as for the general public. We thus provide for a fair, transparent procedure, a plausible evaluation system and clear, consistent documentation.
  • We adhere to the usual rules for procurement competitions to avoid later objections on grounds of procedure.

Last but not least, we manage the entire competition procedure and make sure everything runs smoothly. Deliverables we provide:

  • Definition of procedure and elaboration of competition rules (prize money, timeline and deadlines, participants, etc.), considering a range of alternatives
  • Calculation of competition budget and definition of schedule, incl. ongoing cost control
  • Selection and onboarding of participants  (jury members, expert advisors, guests, etc.) and service providers (model builders, partition suppliers, catering, etc.)
  • Agreement of competition procedure, brief and project parameters with government authorities, chamber of architects, site neighbours, etc.
  • Preparations for selection of competition participants (direct nomination, invitations to apply or open announcement)
  • Production of the tendering documents (layout and content)
  • Organisation of necessary meetings (preparation, management, chairing and minutes of workshops, colloquia, meetings of award jury)
  • Communication with participants (collecting and answering questions and queries, notification of meetings, deadlines and any changes)
  • Organisation, coordination and performance of preliminary assessment
  • Preparation and management of the review phase
  • Public relations support (announcement of competition, public participation, organisation and staffing of public events)
